The Little Rock Zoo’s Horticulture staff is committed to conservation through the use of native and xeriscape plants in the Zoo’s landscape. We have several sites on grounds where we landscape with edible plants such as blackberries, fig trees, and vegetables. These plants provide an attractive landscape as well as fresh, organic produce for animal browse and enrichment. We use composted elephant manure instead of chemical fertilizers, and practice integrated pest management techniques to minimize our use of pesticides.
