Good morning ALFN Market members!

The market is open. Make sure you stock up for those post-thanksgiving leftovers!

We are excited to announce that the new ALFN website is up and running. On the website you will see a section for our blog posts – please check out the one we published today! From now on, we will be using these market reminder emails purely for market-related messages. All over blog content will be posted on our website so that the public has access to it. We encourage you to check it out regularly!

I will go ahead and bend my rule a little bit to remind you all that the Southern Center for Agroecology has ONE more fermentation class left in their workshop series! This one is on December first, so you’ll want to sign up soon.

Volunteers Needed


Good Morning Folks!

We are in need of two volunteers for the early shift at the market this weekend (8:00-10:30). We also have one volunteer spot open during the late shift from 10:00-12:30! If you’re down to hang out with us bright and early, please sign up. Each volunteer receives a month towards their membership or $5 account credit.

The Market Is Open!


Good morning everyone!

Hope you have all had a fantastic weekend. Head on over to the Market to place your orders. You may notice that we have a new treat listed…delicious pints of ice cream from everyone’s favorite local ice cream maker, Loblolly! There are a number of varieties listed, including a mystery seasonal flavor and dairy-free dark chocolate sorbet. To find their ice cream, go over the categories and click “Dairy”, then “Ice Cream”. These items will also be available to buy on the day of market, so don’t fret if you forget to get it on your online order!

Before I go I wanted to share a quote from soil conservationist W.C. Lowdermilk with you all… “If the soil is destroyed, then our liberty of action and choice are gone”. This resonated deeply with me given the current political climate. No matter your party affiliation or level of civic engagement, you protect the future generation’s liberty by supporting our local farmers and investing your money in your community. You are all playing a small part in the big picture, and contributing to the most important issue at hand – protecting our ability to grow food and sustain ourselves!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Head on over to the market and make your orders for the week. We have some really amazing treats, including beautiful persimmons from Barnhill Orchard. If you’re like me and you’re not quite sure what to do with persimmons, check out this delicious recipe for a butternut squash and persimmon fall soup (don’t forget to pick up your butternut squash on the market too!). Yummy!

There are a few more fermentation classes from the Southern Center for Agroecology being hosted over the next few months. The first one was a huge success, and the next ones will fill up fast! Make sure you save your spot.

Hope everyone has a fantastic rest of their weekend and is able to enjoy some of this beautiful weather! If you haven’t taken our grocery delivery survey yet, today would be a wonderful time to do it :)
